Ludong University was founded in 1930 in Yantai City. Ludong University is one of three higher learning centres in the City and is the most centrally located.  Ludon Universities main areas of education are in Chinese Language Education, Life Sciences, Shipbuilding and Oceanography.

Ludong University offers CIS (Confucious Institute Scholarship) and is a HSK and BCT test center. At present Ludong University has four joint educational programs with universities from South Korea, Japan, the USA and a number of French Universities. With 19 schools, 61 undergraduate majors, and 77 masters degree programs which fall into nine discipline categories and 32 category 1 disciplines in Humanities, Science, Technology, Economics, Management, Law, Education, History and Agriculture. The University then has 7 provincial key disciplines, namely, Chinese Philology, English Language and Literature, Operational Research and Cybernatics, Polymer Chemistry and Physics, Physical Geography, History and Chinese Philology.

The Campus & Accommodation at Ludong University is adequat and covers an area of 150 hectares, among which 800,000 square meters are for teaching. Students taking this general course should be aware it has a number of restrictions and rules to follow in comparision to the Special SMA course. One of these restrictions is that all Students must be in their domatorys by 11pm every night.

The Courses offered at Ludong University can all be offered to general learners and advanced learners. However, degree and master course students must have reached either HSK level 3, 5 or 6 depending on the course they choose.

Chinese Language Learning at this University benefits from being the only HSK test center in Yantai. As a result there are a number of opportunities to join special programs specifically to help students pass HSK and CBT exams. For non-degree langauage learners This course is basic and adequate for for dedicated international students. At present the majority of Ludong University's foreign students come from Korea. Therefore one criticim of this general course is that it is geared toward Korean students. For this reason Ludong's Special SMA program has been designed to be much more western friendly and flexible interms of its structure and content.  

Ludong University is located in Yantai,a beautiful seaside city in the east of Shandong Peninsula.
