Description

The Phoenix Plan

The Phoenix Plan is our newest course aimed at people, who have lost their way, became out of shape and want to do something about it. The reason we have started this program is because over the years just on our normal regime of healthy eating and martial arts training we have helped dozens of men and women of all ages get into shape within just a few short months. For example Jan Backus from Germany, 20 years old arrived at RDS weighing 160KG and lost a total of 35KG, Debbie Waddle from Scotland, 36 years old lost a total of 14KG and was running half marathons with ease at the end of her stay.

Why Phoenix?

The Phoenix is famous for its long life span, which Rises from the ashes after death and regenerates its self so you can look at the Phoenix as a symbol of renewal just like what you will be doing here at Rising Dragon. The Phoenix plan is going to completely regenerate your mind, body, and soul and give you a new start in life. Many weight loss programs around the world are ridiculously expensive and only for a 1-week long course which will not give you dramatic changes in weight or appearance where as here at Rising Dragon you will be living and breathing a healthy lifestyle for 3 months which will be ingrained into you so you can carry the lifestyle on when you return to the real world. If you are serious about getting into shape and leading a healthy lifestyle then simply book The Phoenix Plan. You will not only be doing beneficial exercise but also learning a variety of martial arts and ancient Qigong routines, which will help, relieve stress and calm the mind. Stress is among the top reasons for people gaining unwanted weight and can affect you in several ways including the release of a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol can slow your metabolism causing more weight gain and making dieting more difficult. Our environment, a Buddhist Monastery on the foothills of the Himalayas at 1800m altitude is incomparable by any other location in the world and we feel it will have a huge role mentally in helping people lose weight as it is peaceful, stress free, and away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You can totally immerse yourself into our way of living in a martial arts Buddhist Monastery and be guaranteed to become a new, better, healthier person by the time you leave. The Phoenix Plan is available May, June, and July only, spaces are limited..

The most exercise I'd done before taking up this programme was more than a year ago and amounted to a weekly zumba class! But after getting over the sheer pain, horror, and abject dread about everything Shaolin Kung Fu and the 5:30 a.m. morning circuits could offer - I actually really enjoyed it. I was one of those kids at school who was absolutely terrible at aa sports - and always got picked last for every team (no surprise there.) Well I don't think any of my sporting skills improved that much and I'm pretty sure i was still the slowest, weakest and definitely the oldest at the school, but I was never made to feel like that by the other students. And for probably the first time I got to experience what doing sport in a non-judgmental and supportive environment felt like - where doing your own personal best was what was encouraged. I'd never done any running before so even for me just completing 13 kilometers without stopping was an amazing feeling and taught me such a valuable lesson - about what we and aren't capable of achieving if we put our minds to it. I thought the way that all of the students helped and coached each other made for a really great culture and they certainly kept me going for the short time that I was there. So thanks to you and also to them for a fantastic experience and wishing you the best of luck for the future with the school and any other projects you may have on the go.

Before attending Rising Dragon School I had a few years of Wing Chun training, 6 months of Muay Thai and some Tai Chi and Qigong training. I was lucky enough to learn White Crane Gong Fu for 2 weeks at the Rising Dragon School taught by master Yan Da Shi. Amongst learning this very effective close combat Kung Fu, a specialty of the local area, I achieved fitness goals I never thought I could achieve, including scaling the fantastic local mountain 1700 meters high and preparing my fitness for learning Kung Fu. The school was everything I had imagined it to be and more but I was very lucky to learn White Crane Kung Fu whilst the school was new and remained unpopulated in wintertime. Although a Westerner owns the school it is a very authentic school for martial arts and for experiencing the wonderful Chinese culture. I will be back

Located northwest of the Yunnan Province, 300 kilo-meters (186 miles) northwest of Kunming, Dali City is the economic and cultural center of the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. The area is surrounded by mountains on the east, west, and south, and has the Erhai Lake in its center. Here you will find 25 ethnic minorities, which have created a unique cultural heritage amidst the area's picturesque surroundings.

Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake are praised as the city's leading scenic areas. Most attractions lie between these two landmarks, such as the Butterfly Spring, and the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple. Ethnic minorities have inhabited in this area for generations, with the Bai Minority making up the majority of its population (65%). The customs of the ethnic minorities bring charm to daily life. Each spring, celebrations and festivals bring the city to life. Celebrations such as the March Street Festival and Butterfly Fest provide excellent opportunities to learn about local folk customs.

As early as 4,000 years ago, the ancestors of the Bai people settled in this area. In the Second Century AD, it was brought into the territory of the central government of Han Dynasty (206 BC-220AD). Two ethnic states, the Nanzhao State (738-937) in Tang Dynasty (618-907), and the Dali State (937-1253) in Song Dynasty (960-1279), were once established here as well. Throughout ages, it remained an intermediary area linking economic and cultural communications between ancient China and other countries via India. The remains of the Tai He City and the Dali Ancient City bear witness to thousands of years of historic changes once happened here. Together with the Xizhou Town and the Zhoucheng Village, the ancient towns around show the best of historic customs of daily life within the Bai Minority.

Present Dali is a city that combines history with modern convenience. It is divided into two areas- the Ancient City and the New District (widely known as Xiaguan). The Ancient City is centered around the ancient city of Dali, first built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Ancient buildings, city walls and the old city moat are the sites most frequented by visitors. The famous Foreigner Street in the Ancient City attracts visitors with its handicrafts, and local culinary delicacies. Xiaguan, located to the south of the Ancient City, home to the government of the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. Here hotels, public squares, and shopping centers add modernity to the otherwise historical city.

Throughout its years of development, local endeavors for advancement have been rewarded with a great rise in area living standards. Nowadays, this is a tourist destination replete with every convenience in transportation and public facilities, making it accessible for visitors from home and abroad.
